Ministry Notes – October 2006
- November 1 and December 8 are HOLY DAYS OF OBLIGATION.
Please sign up to minister at the Masses. Sign up sheets are on the credenza.
- We plan to have our NEXT MINISTRY MEETING on Thursday, November 30, at 7:00pm, in the gym. We encourage all Extraordinary
Ministers and Ushers to attend… especially those who plan to minister in
the gym for Christmas and Easter Masses. We will be discussing and practicing
the procedure for distributing Holy Communion in the gym during our
largest Masses.
- LECTORS: The New Lector Workbooks are available
in the vestibule. On December 31,
Feast of the Holy Family, there are choices for the readings. Please prepare I Samuel 1:20-22, 24-28 for the First Reading and I John3:1-2, 21-24 for the Second Reading.
- We are fortunate to have Deacon Larry Damato and two Acolyte Interns, Dan Donnelly and
George Miller, who serve in our Parish.
Each week, an Acolyte Intern is assigned to a position of Lector or
Server. This is evident on the
Ministry schedule.
WHEN A DEACON IS AT MASS, THERE ARE A FEW
CHANGES IN THE LITURGY:
1. The
Deacon processes in with the Presider and the
servers. The Deacon carries in the Book of the Gospels. The Lector may also process in, if they so
choose. Order of procession: Servers, Lector, Deacon and Presider.
2.
The Deacon sits at the Presider’s
immediate right hand.
3.
The Deacon proclaims the Gospel and also the Petitions.
4.
When the Deacon is present, he will be a Communion
Minister.
5.
Servers: LISTEN
for any directions from the Deacon or Father.
They might have different directions for you.
6.
The recession- servers walk out in front of the Deacon
and Priest
Thank You for the many ways you serve
our Parish!
