The meeting was opened with the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

 
Good News

Welcome to Benjamin Oliver, son of Peggy and Thom, born Monday, May 13.  Also Carolyn Marie Parasch, daughter of Guy and July who was born Wednesday, June 5.

 

Parish Picnic/Baby Shoes

Diane says, “it’s a go!” set up for our Baby Shoes Booth at the parish picnic will be at 8:30 a.m. , Saturday, June 15.  This is a traveling display of 2000 pairs of baby shoes. 

2000 pairs= 4000 shoes= the number of abortions performed in the U.S. each day.

 

Shoes need to be picked up at Holy Angels in Kinloch – Guy or Joan

 

Picnic 10-9 (11 hours of coverage)

There was discussion about signage on the booth – whether or not the word “abortion” should be used.  Decided to go with:

Pro Life

Win this Pool

Guess number of shoes

 

Hint: number of babies lost to abortion each day in USA or similar wording.

 

Additional Picnic Notes:  all proceeds from booth go to parish.  The parish will pay for all our expenses though!

 

RACE FOR THE CURE

-          will be held Saturday, June 22, Busch Stadium

-          MRL (Missouri Right to Life) will be handing out brochures linking abortion and breast cancer

-          Komen Foundation does not recognize this link (abortion and breast cancer)

-          Komen Foundation  also donates to Planned Parenthood

 

STATE REP NEAL ST. ONGE

-          88th District State Representative mailed our a post card introducing himself.

-          Guy e-mailed him asking him his stand on abortion.  Mr. St. Onge said he was pro-life, but MCC showed Mr. St. Onge had not voted pro-life on cloning issue.

APLC CONVENTION (ARCHDIOCESAN PRO-LIFE COMMITTEE)

Sunday, October 27.  Guy needs a person to spearhead this; getting ads from businesses, etc.

 

 

LIFE CHAIN

Sunday, October 6 – A Life Chain Committee Meeting will be held prior to our next regular meeting:  Call Steve Regan for info.

 

Life Chain Committee:  Activity Lead-Steve Regan: Nowaks, Guy, Diane, Bob   All are welcome.

-   In 2001 did first sign up in July.  Steve will e-mail anyone from last year that left e-mail addresses

-          Steve will check football (Rams) schedule.

-          Diane will get a notice in the bulletin

-          Guy wants to send letters to parish organizations (especially athletic) requesting that they do not schedule anything that afternoon (October 6)

 

SAUSAGE SUPPER

-          Sunday, October 13

-          Guy received a letter from Sausage Supper Committee asking if we wanted to do the Football Booth again this year like we did in 2001.

-          Little enthusiasm for it – but Marge suggested a Diaper Changing Station where Moms & Dads could conveniently change diapers – it would be indoors (if Sausage Supper will have us) so a quiet place to nurse babies & for elderly to rest, etc.

-          Guy will suggest it on form he returns to parish

 

 

DEATH PENALTY

Parish council will vote Thursday, June 13 on the Death Penalty Statement we submitted.

 

 

BUDGET

Budget report pending from Diane

 

TLC (TACKLE LIFE’S CHALLENGES WITH TENDER LOVING CARE)

This is an informational and inspirational seminar with fellowship.

 

One will be held in each county (?) this year.  All young adults and adults are invited.  No RSVP requested.

 

Locations:     Joan of Arc Parish – St. Louis City – Thursday, June 13

                   St. Martin de Porres – St. Louis County (Hazelwood) Thursday, July 11

 

Diane will put in bulleting and get info to youth group (Tom Lancia).  Vince will provide transportation.  He will tell Tom Lancia.

 

 

WASHINGTON BUS TRIP

Vice talked at St. Joseph’s School last year about the Bus Trip.  He was asked to speak about other things, too.

 

The PSR Group asked Guy to speak also on ???

 

Ray Adams is a PSR instructor and plans to join the committee meetings in future months.

 

 

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PROGRAM

-          Vince will talk to Pam Hruska (7th grade teacher at St. Joseph’s) about Spiritual Adoption.  She seems receptive to hanging posters in her classroom showing baby’s development as months progress.

-          Short daily prayers for baby in womb

-          Update on baby development for 9 months – September through May

-          The parish’s copy people called the Copy Cats may laminate Vince’s posters.

 

 

TRIBUTE TO UNBORN MONUMENT

Alice Kennedy has asked Fr. Wetmore (and Fr. Wetmore directed her to talk to us) about a monument to be erected on parish grounds as a tribute to unborn children.

 

Guy gave Alice the Archdiocesan phone number and she will call for more info – which has one of these monuments, etc….   St. Monica’s parish in Creve Coeur has or had one.

PRAYER REQUEST

 

Steve Regan’s mom – she had surgery June 12 and she lost a kidney.

Melissa Barnason’s daughter , Sydney (6 years old) is undergoing testing for health concerns.
