The large and small bells on our tower are from
the old St. Malachy's Church (no longer existing) in downtown St.
Louis. The matching middle bell is from a church in Illinois. The
bells were blessed and dedicated May 1, 1975. Since
that time they have become the unofficial symbol of our parish because
they represent our coming together. The bells have extolled
the praises of God's glory on Christmas Eve and
Easter Sunday morning. They have pealed in joy for weddings and have
sounded a final welcome at funerals.
They have rung in each New Year, resounding with hope
for the future. They have expressed our sorrow at the death of Pope
Paul VI and John Paul I and have celebrated with the election of
Pope John Paul II.
They invite us to pray together as a parish family
at noon and six each day and they call us every Sunday morning to
come in unity before the table of the Lord to celebrate together
His sacrament of love.
