By my calculations, I will have been your part time associate pastor
for 5 years this September. They have been truly wonderful years
for me and, from much of your feedback, the have been good for you,
too.
Imagine, then, my delight that, as of July 1, 2007, I am your full
time pastoral associate. Each day as I celebrate morning Mass, come
to the parish office, receive and make phone calls, visit with many
of you, I am ever more grateful for this new assignment.
Indeed, my learning curve will be steep because, since my ordination
in 1971, this will be only my second year as a full time parish
priest. Although I have always lived in a parish and helped out
with weekend work, my primary ministries have been elsewhere.
From 1972 until 1986, I was assigned to full time Catholic secondary
education. And, since my recovery from my first cancer in 1987,
I have been in Catholic health care...until now.
As I was in 2002, I am so happy to be here, so touched by the level
of spiritual maturity here, i.e. our love for Jesus, His Gospel,
and each other, that I look forward to us all continuing to grow
in that love and in building God's kingdom here in the holy community
God has given us.
