All head and assistant coaches will need to do three things:
1. CYC
card - Every coach and every assistant coach needs to have a
CYC card along with every player in 5th grade and up. Adults need
a driver's license or passport, children need a birth certificate
or baptismal certificate (must have birth date on it). These cards
cost $3.00 for coaches and players. Coach's card never expires and
players expire in 7 years.
2. CYC
Coaching Clinic is a good introduction to coaching in general,
practice organization and so forth. Attendance one time is good
for life. The card you receive replaces the standard CYC card. This
is a free clinic for head coaches. Additionally, all coaches and
anyone helping must be in compliance with the Safe Environment Program
http://www.archstl.org/children/children.html.
The short version is that you must attend the Protecting God's
Children workshop, have a background check completed (form is available
at the parish office), and read and sign the Code of Ethical Conduct
(also available at the parish office). This has to be done in order
to work with kids in any capacity in the diocese. Schedule of workshops
