LOOKING BACK

a.                   ACRE testing went off without a hitch and when Carrie receives results, she will evaluate and pass on to Michelle to share with parents via mail or newsletter.

b.                  Luke 18 was “GREAT”!  Attendance was very good, approximately 17 attended.

c.                   Human Sexuality completed.  7th and 8th grade great feedback on REAP.  There were only about 1/3 of parents present.  Contemplating having REAP on a “NO PSR NIGHT” because of confusion with dismissal and where the children were supposed to be located.

d.                  The Archdiocese is rewriting Safe Touch program and will be instituting it in PSR by teachers.

e.                   Sacrament prep has been going well.  Received good feedback for the Forgiveness Festival for the 1st graders and 7th grade Witness Assembly attendance was better than ever.

f.                    Survey calls – looks like another weeknight is the preferred choice and more than 80% want nothing but Monday night.  Michelle, Carrie and Fr. Santen will meet on February 22 to evaluate results and progress.

Concerns:

Michelle – Community!  This separation of student/family base by two different sessions will affect community that has grown so well on Monday night. Michelle shared experience of PSR Middle School children currently applying PSR teachings outside of class and exhibiting teachings in public school settings.

Other concerns brought to Michelle’s attention by catechist about catechists having to pay tuition for their children.  Discussed stipend fee to catechists and allowing choice to waive fee for children or to discount 50% or 100% and receive no stipend.  Jim motioned to have a choice of 100% fee waived and no stipend or receive stipend and pay fee.  This was seconded by Kim.

g.                   Athletic Association support of PSR with soccer practice.  There was a conflict with Kindergarten soccer practice being held at St. Joseph’s on Monday night.  This was brought to the attention of the Association; they didn’t think it would be a conflict because Kindergarten doesn’t attend Monday night PSR.  The conflict is in the parking lot and schedules of families with older siblings who are on Monday night PSR; the soccer director will change that for next year.

LOOKING FORWARD

a.                   First Communion Parents meeting February 15th and 20th

b.                  March 4/5 REGISTRATIONS with a deadline of March 18th – NO EXCEPTIONS.  Fee and tuition needs to be approved for catechists therefore it may have to wait to be instituted for next year.  Registration times 8:30 – 12:45 on March 4th and 6 – 7:30 on March 5th and again from 8:30 – 11 a.m. on March 11th or during PSR office hours until March 18th.  Julie will send around a sign up sheet to work.  Those attending the meeting volunteered for times.

c.                   Presence of Board Members needed on the following dates:  Registrations on March 4th and 5th, Stations of the Cross on March 12th, Passion Mime on April 2nd, put on the by the Youth Group, Living Rosary on May 7th and Closing Mass on May 22nd (possible registration table)

d.                  Fee for missing Parking Lot Duty – Full time school fee for missing recess duty is $75.  It was decided that a $50 fee for not showing up should be implemented. This will be taken by an automatic deduction or a bill will be sent.

e.                   Currently they are working on next year’s calendar.  This will be an implementation of Go Teach All Nations evaluations of programming and will require more Board involvement.

  1. OLD BUSINESS

a.                   Donut Sunday, Eileen not in attendance of meeting, but those of us there that worked the Sunday begged for more donuts.  Ran out of donuts during 11 mass.  Had to ask that only children take donuts! Need at least 2 more boxes.  Eileen was told, by person in charge of ordering donuts, that they would not order more donuts.

  1. NEW BUSINESS

a.                   PSR Registration for 2007-2008 – covered by Michelle in CRE Report

b.                  PSR Options Parent’s Survey – covered by Michelle in CRE Report

c.                   Recruitment of Board members for next year – Looking for names, it was mentioned to talk to Kathy Bolhofner, very involved parent.  Try to get 3 maybes at registrations and possibly we can get enough from those to say yes.

d.                  What have you heard??  Some children do not recognize Fr Santen.  Perhaps we could schedule him to show up in PSR classes to discuss different topics like Meditative Prayer or even do the closing prayer once in a while.  Michelle will discuss with Father Santen.

  1. FUTURE BUSINESS

a.                   Next Meeting April 17th

b.                  March 5th is Crazy Hat Night @ PSR.  Donations for St. Jude and wear a hat to support.
