St. Joseph PSR Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Attendance: Michelle Foster, Lisa Schroeder, Martha Vehlewald, Fr. Jim Krings, Scott Miller, Jeannine Maciak, Jim Gissy
a. Explanation
of discipline policy
b. Discussed the T R Y Program and how it has expanded to the classrooms as a reward for the children for good behavior
a. General discussion on discipline issues and how the Catechists are handling discipline in the classroom
b. Do the children sign a discipline contract at the beginning of the year? It is up to each Catechist.
c. Next year there will be four class sessions that will be done in the home by the parents on those Monday evenings. The Catechists will attend an in-service at that time.
d. Various suggestions were made on how to help the Catechists address discipline issues
e. Discussed using the T R Y method for discipline

Julie Ellis may be looking for volunteers
to assist with the TRY program
g. Some Catechists suggested a Christmas program (possible parent volunteers)
h. Some Catechists feel there is not enough time to teach the lesson
i. Parents expressed dismissal concerns: Beginning Prayer instead of ending prayer, dismiss all grades at the same time, could there be two sessions on Mondays
j. Michelle asked for feed back about dismissal ideas via e-mail
k. Parents would like to see more service projects
l. Parents would like to see the syllabus, it is on the web
m. Parent concern with the day school and PSR conflicts. Michelle works with the various persons to resolve this issue
n. Can the houses be used as classrooms? No, they are not zoned for classroom use
o. Students would like to see more of the Priests/Deacons

suggested that a schedule of visits may help the Catechists in their planning
