Baptism is the first sacrament of the Church. Through the waters of
Baptism, we are washed clean of sin and become members of the Body
of Christ, the Church. Through Baptism we become a part of the "priesthood
of believers" and share in the ministerial work of Christ.
Baptism is generally administered to infants of Catholic parents.
Below is found information for procedures to be followed in the Baptism
of Infants. We also baptize children and adults. This is done through
the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and the Rite of
Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC). These procedures are covered
under the section dealing with the RCIA.
Parents should call well in advance to schedule the
time and date. A form will be sent to the parents. This needs to
be completed and returned to the parish office or brought to the
preparation class in order to schedule your baptism. Baptism preparation
class is required for your first child. This class is generally
held the first Tuesday of each month in the church. Registration
is required.
