The Sacrament of Confirmation is integrally tied
to the sacrament of Baptism. For adults who are to be baptized, they
also receive the sacrament of Confirmation at the same time. In the
case of infants and young children, the sacrament of Confirmation
is givin at a later time (sometime after they have attained the "use
of reason") and can freely choose to receive this sacrament.
This sacrament completes Baptism in the sense
of calling the person to a fuller living of the Christian life.
God initiates the action with an outpouring of the gifts of the
Holy Spirit in the sacrament. Confirmation is normally offered to
eighth grade students in both the full-time and part-time schools.
Call the Parish School of Religion for more information. Confirmation
for adults is conferred at the Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday each
year. Call the Parish Office for more information.
